One can still have fun with an average game. Taste is subjective. Even if it’s not intentional, you come across as a gatekeeper. But that’s just my opinion - which I freely admit and accept - is simply my opinion.

Not really, it adds emotional heft and more adult tone to the proceedings but you still get a lot of superior sci-fi plotlines and superhero action and the VFX are much better than the other Arrowverse shows. Definitely the best Superman TV show ever. Smallville was great but it had a lot of teen-angst fast-forward

I am interested in seeing what they do for the finale arc, but thus far this season, I’d say the characters became much more 2-dimensional.

Those issues were actually handled by functioning adults that talked to each other.  At least most of the time.

I completely believe Robert Downey Jr. when he says that Mel Gibson helped him during the lowest points of his life and helped him get sober.

What surprises me is how the first one, somehow, is the least dumb one.   Don’t get me wrong, it’s dumb as hell,  but it looks like Citizen Kane next to its sequels.  Bumblebee being the only exception and actually being fun.

I’ll say one thing about having Bumblebee fight Nazis. It total explains why he turns into a Volkswagen

Tell me Mark Wahlberg makes an appearance in the movie, whips out his prosthetic dong, then sings “The Touch”.

“Mmm, yes! They’re even better when you’re a world-devouring monster planet robot!”

Yes! This and the following scene where Galvatron demolishes Starscream have been living in my head since the 80s.

Now playing

Orson Welles was unironically great as Unicron in the Transformers movie, especially when he meets Megatron.

That’s totally fine!

Just don’t do that on the train. Or anywhere in public. Please.

This is a parody account, right?

What the fuck are these dicksplats doing on the AV Club?

No Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The movie both Siskel and Ebert opened their review of with “It’ll have you constantly saying ‘How did they do that’”.

I’m glad this list went back as far as it did, and there are one or two I hadn’t heard of, so something to explore =) But I will say I’m disappointed Metropolis isn’t mentioned — seems like that is a pretty iconic film due in no small part to its (ground breaking?) effects ...

Gazing back into you. Dunno how you missed it.

What did Tron do to the AV Club to be dismissed so easily? It seems crazy to be so unimpressed by a classic and groundbreaking SFX movie.
