When you cast an actor you’re saying they’re able to portray a particular character but they may have lots, or nothing in common with the person they are playing. An American might put on an English accent, Tom Cruise might stand on a box to simulate being taller…

Maybe that is the norm for some or even most people. Personally I find having more than one novel on the go at once enjoyable; I have a choice of what to dip into. Same goes for games - though just now I’m playing through both Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages and they’re practically the same (but still great).
Some people only read one book at a time too. But, I’ve always thought that was akin to only ever watching one TV channel.
