There’s more to it than just that. Car companies have a perpetual problem to solve; all of their current workforce will age out and retire at some point. Schools need to keep churning out more car enthusiasts somehow, but the car makers don’t run the education system.

Maybe they underestimated how difficult owning an electric car without home charging can be.
