Because Macron knows that showering praise on Trump in one-on-one meetings is how to play him. But this speech was for the French and European people primarily. Foreign relations are like that. Sometimes you have to check your ego and do things you don’t really want to for the better of your country.

“embracing and encouraging the destructive nationalism we’re supposed to never forget”

I always end up on the intersection of “Democrat/Republican/Libertarian” on those on-line tests. I see the value in some government services, I believe that in some things the private sector does better, and I do not care what you do in your own home. And as of now, I do not see myself voting Republican ever again.

But on a plus side... he got a thumbs up from his boss.

For the life of me I can’t tell what game Macron is playing. One day it looks like he’s being all chummy with Trump, and then the next he turns around and savages him like this. I don’t know if he’s doing politics-as-usual, or if he’s playing into the narcissism precisely so he can build him up and tear him down and

Fun fact, in case the President wants to visit our(5,000+) troops stationed in Iraq, it’s only around a 6 to 7 hour flight from Paris as opposed to the 17 hour flight from Washington DC.

Give him a couple of hours on the Twitter Throne, and he’ll be telling us how much better attended his “celebration” was…

I really believe that they have gotten worse since Reagan. The Democratic party, and society in general, were not that far off of what Republicans said that they believed in the 80's. I think that is why we have seen so many Republicans from that time retire and publicly disavow this new version of the GOP. John

A primary of Trump will go nowhere. The GOP is a Trump cult of personality now. All of the moderates like my dad (a lifelong Republican) have left the party.

Oh, I know the Republicans are doing that. The problem is, and they haven’t actually realized it yet (or they have and that’s why they belly up to kiss his anus), 45 owns the Republican base’s soul. Straight up. These people, and there’s literally tens of millions of them, worship Dolt 45 in place of Jesus.

Yeah, the best I can credit Crenshaw for is being a good sport who can read off a teleprompter.

“I also hate how they have taken up the banner of the Christian Taliban in their fight to make LGBTQ people go hide in a closet somewhere, as if pretending that they do not exist is going to make them go away. Where is your notion of limited government interference?”

We can be like, ‘Wow he shouldn’t have tweeted that,’ and still support him . . . You can disapprove of what the president says every day, or that day, and still support his broader agenda.”

I think that you may be right. I am trying to imagine what I would do if I wanted to make sure that the Republican party did not have a chance to win anything within 20 years, and damned if Trump is not ticking all the boxes. Alienate young voters, alienate growing minority communities, actively try disenfranchising

We can be like, ‘Wow he shouldn’t have tweeted that,’ and still support him .

Without generations of political hacks like Graham and Rubio, trump would never have been possible.

Wasting time, resources, morale and money on a dog and pony show that the shrieking Permit Pattys and Hitler youths already forgot they bought a ticket for.

The troops will not be enforcing United States immigration law — that would run afoul of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, unless a special exception is made.

Yet another fucking embarassment for us. My BIL did two brief tours in the Middle East. He is a full time National Guardsman (and I know who he had to suck off to get that cushy job). He brags about his time there. But this is the real shit: he is not a soldier; never went to any boot camp. He is a car mechanic. He is
