He’s always defended his line (including the horrible one they won a Superbowl with), won’t complain about Conners fumbles, and never questions the defense (which, didn’t lose the Denver game, but they’ve been pretty awful at times this year). It often does change what is built, either with mitigation or alternative routes. The end result will accomplish the same (going point a to b), but how it gets there will likely change.

They've been making tunnels in the ground for centuries. Musk may feel he has some new technology to do it with, but he's not that different from most tunnel boring machines. 

That’s why they should do an environmental impact study. There may be endangered plants or animals on the route, and would need mitigation (such as relocation) or changing the route to avoid the habitats.
