A ruse is a trick. They didn't need to trick Schumer, they just straight up lied, and he for some reason believed them. If anything it makes Schumer look worse, because they don't need to resort to trickery!

Fuck off. There's a difference between Republicans reneging on a deal and being the victim of a ruse or con job, which is what getting played implies. You stupid stupid head!

Yep. It's not so much that Schumer got played, it's that the Republicans just lied to them. And if the Democrats stayed in Washington, they could muster a little outrage and debate, but the Republicans can pass with no Democrats voting.
