From the Xbox to the 360, I can think of 3 games off the top of my head: NFS Most Wanted, King Kong, and Battlefield 2 MC. All 3 of those were identical between systems, with the exception of looking slightly prettier on 360.

Well, I'm mostly talking about this generation, but The Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout, Fable, The Witcher, as well as aRGPs like Diablo/Titan Quest, and from the olden days, the slew of fantastic DnD games.

It still requires clicking a ridiculous amount of times to read a full discussion, which usually means that in order to read all the comments on the article, I end up with an insane amount of tabs open. I will agree though, while inconvenient, the newer system actually works, whereas when they first changed it, it was

He was using phones as a comparison, as in, phones register multiple fingers, whereas this one won't...

If it's due to their business practices and you don't want to give them money, then ok, more gamers should show self restraint and not support companies that they morally disagree with, and I'm all for that.

Website updates drove a lot of people away from here. Kinja made me stop commenting for a few months, and a lot of old Kotakuites moved to other sites.

Also, if you do have any recommendations, I currently own a gaming PC and an Xbox 360, no current handhelds or PS3/Wii at the moment.

Alright, I haven't really played any RPGs this whole gen. Back in the days I played FF 7/10/10-2, ChronoTrigger, and Xenogears that I can think of off the top of my head. I enjoyed them, but wasn't much of a "fan" of the genre I suppose. I'm mostly into shooters, western RPGs, action, and indie games I guess.

" but getting games to work with WINE and shit didn't work so well." I was referring to when I used to use Linux. And even though support is a lot better now and will keep getting better, the vast majority of my games still won't work on Linux.

A few of the indie titles I've been meaning to pick up, awesome.

Did anyone else play the (subpar) Xbox/360 version of Battlefield 2? The multiplayer was iffy and nothing like actual BF2, but the campaign was kinda cool, and it had a really good swapping mechanic. Look at a fellow soldier, and no matter how far away he is, tap "Y" to take over. There were actually little challenges

I haven't really been a fan of Nintendo's controller designs over the years, but then again, it's kinda hard to rank, say, Playstation's controllers lol.

With the PS2 that wasn't true at all. Along with a lot of PS3 games also getting PS2 versions, there were plenty of games released for that console after the PS3's launch. Notable, God of War 2 came out in 2007, but came out on PS2 instead of PS3.

Yeah, but that's not the norm, a lot of people were surprised and upset when MS stopped supporting the Xbox after a year.

I still haven't picked up StarCraft 2. I kinda suck at RTS games, and my personal favorite genres are more along FPS/RPG/Indie lines, so it hasn't reached the top of my "games to buy" list yet. I do intend to, though, my roommate loves it and it seems pretty fun. Maybe I'll pick up SC2 and HotS at the same time.

That could be a big part of it. I didn't know much about it going in, other than it was an id FPS featuring car combat and a post apocalyptic setting, and that it was running a new engine.

I never got the hate on that game, I loved the shit out of it. Beautiful graphics, amazing animation, good gameplay (wingsticks were awesome) and decent length. I think too many people went in expecting an RPG like FO3 when it was clearly an FPS with a few RPG elements.

No compression on the textures and high resolution cut scenes take up tons of space. Max Payne 3 was like 31GB on PC because they didn't compress any of the cutscenes, textures, or music.

Oh I know graphics don't make the game, but the gunplay didn't look good either, and controlling aliens in MP looked terrible, too. And I know they're good devs, I played a lot of Borderlands (haven't picked up 2 yet though), and they also did a fantastic job with Halo PC port. Never played Brothers in Arms but heard
