Valid. I owned an E36M and now own an E46M. It seems the M cars are generally better. I have heard of quality issues with newer models, but the i3 is so different I don’t know if it would be included. Even the interior is totally different materials (recyclable, etc) so read into that what you will.

Why do you think that a Volt, which is a PHEV, would have less repair and maintenance cost than an i3, which is a BEV?

The Volt has a lot more moving parts. You never have to change the oil, for example, in a BEV like the i3 or Leaf.
