It would also need someone to provide and stick with a completed script, and not have a bunch of moments where actors just make shit up.

I don’t think this is an actual problem. Anyone listening to or reading the news would know that:

Seriously. Expanse was FANTASTIC. LOTR was....kind of ok. For the money they spent, 2 more seasons of the Expanse would have been a better investment.
