If any of you are looking for a fitness gift for that special pater familias in your life, get them a treadmill. They won’t use it, but by the nature of at home fitness equipment, it will always be in the way, and they will get absolutely shredded from moving it 9000 times a year.

I’ve had three, and every single one has looked exactly like that.
No they come from the factory with that coating. It’s a rust proofing measure that wraps all the way under the car. Later cars have color matched rocker covers so you don’t see it.
It’s also roughly the same size as the current 3 series, maybe even a bit smaller.
