I feel you. I see photos of myself from just a few years ago and oh goodness the youthful happiness. Where did it all go? I was in my 30s then still too, but damn I feel and look like a haggard zombie in comparison now!

Sounds like an awesome vet! You should hear some of krhodes1's (see his response on this thread) stories - he’s written about his euro delivery experiences before. If BMW made interesting cars anymore I’d say that’s a bucket list item for sure. Maybe they’ll get their act together again in the electric future.

The main reason I’m anti-union is that I believe all workers should have government protections granted to unions.

Yeah they are very, very hard to find especially clean. More so if you’re looking for a RWD one. And given the direction prices are headed you’ll probably have an easier time finding a E90/92 M3 for $20K than finding an E91 wagon. Also on the short list of dream BMWs for me, especially given how high that engine revs.

I wouldn’t get rid of a vehicle unless it’s one you don’t need at this point. Any extra money gained from the sale will be spent on it’s replacement.

Whatever floats your boat!

This is part of what I’m considering. Also rumor has it that hybrid might be offered with AWD for second year on (in addition to Ford having had quite a few release issues with other recent vehicles). Nothing wrong with the current car at all, at least as a family hauler, so this is definitely an option.

Agreed - the ones on lots I see listed are marked up significantly, it makes no sense. Which is why I was wondering if doing a factory order and being willing to wait for my specific vehicle to get built will help avoid that BS and just get it at list price, given that I do have the luxury of being able to wait.

Oh I am very familiar with who you are, Mr. krhodes1 - mainly because of the amount of lust I have for your wagon. Didn’t know you got rid of the 2 series - isn’t that the car you factory ordered and picked up in Germany? Do you still spend part of your time up in Maine? I just moved to the Boston area and have family

Yeah totally get it. The only reason I was able to swing  the E46 was because I had a newer commuter car, and it was replacing an 89 E30 so it was light years ahead in terms of how much newer it seemed to the spouse :) If I needed to have one car to do it all probably would’ve had to look for something newer as

Bought a CPO 2016 Outback Premium with 45k miles in 2018 for $21k (seen below with my FIL’s Ranger on an island in Maine that we drove on to during low tide).

Didn’t promise it would be easy :) I get that many people want something relatively new so get pushed in to these options. If you want a N/A straight six I agree that a 1 series is pretty hard to find, esp with a stick...3s not that hard, esp in sedan/coupe form. Or you could always go E46 like I did, there are LOTS

Also isn’t the Subaru supposed to have more range, around 300 miles? How come? I doubt it has a higher battery capacity or motors?

Sorry I’m just not buying it. It’s probably a fine car, but there’s nothing special about a 2.0 turbo 4 banger. If you want a #28i BMW go for a 128 or an older 328 (especially in E91 wagon form if you can find one). Now there’s a real future classic - last of the N/A inline 6s that BMW has a reputation for.

It weighs more than our last gen SUBARU OUTBACK family hauler. WTF???

Hell yeah, I bought in at $24.80 as well! I’m about to sell and retire any day now, with my what....$59 of returns. Yeah, I bought 2 shares.

Same comment from my neighbor who drives a 10 year old TSX. His wife had a TLX that got in an accident and now drives one of these things...he says the build quality and materials definitely feel a notch below what they used to be.

Recently moved to the Boston area and am seeing these things EVERYWHERE. Have they suddenly become more popular, or have they built a niche market out here in New England? Our neighbor has one, guy we bought our house from has one, and easily there are dozens of these in the neighborhood just like there were Subarus

To be fair, it does protect them FROM price gouging? Given that it allows them to be the only one who can do the gouging.

And before people start bashing on GM for such a stupid feature - BMWs of the 80s and early 90s had the same function too. My E30 would flash a “check” light in the middle of the gauge cluster when you first started the car, which would go off when you press the brake pedal as a confirmation that “yes, I’ve checked
