To me the complaints about “tacked on screen!” are so 2019. I think those of us who have actually experienced these in real life and driven with them have come to the realization that they don’t obstruct your view through the windscreen, and are conveniently in your line of sight only requiring a slight glance

And hey (I can’t believe I’m batting for GM twice here) - if you’re stuck at the $5k budget I’d also recommend looking at GMC Canyon/Chevy Colorados (not with the earlier 4 banger, but with the 5 pot engine).

Go check out FB marketplace for $5k. Sort through scams and blurry upside down photos with thumbs covering the license plate...and you’d be surprised to see a few actual options out there. It’s definitely a game of roulette, but fun to see what you can end up with if you are willing to throw away $5k (I kind of am

A bunch of JDM cars about to become available in Maine and Rhode Island.

Yeah given how long these things were in production you might find one within budget, but it’ll be pretty beat up. I’m also in the NE and casually looking for a super cheap beat up pickup truck and these things certainly exist around the $5k mark. But at that point makes you wonder why not a GMT800 instead that will

Curious which model you have? The only plug-in ones I see seem to be pretty small single stage models. I personally don’t mind corded tools since they seem to give out a bit more juice and you don’t have to worry about battery running out. But I am hoping to find a more beefy 2 stage unit for sloppy New England winters

That 4Runner (which is no small vehicle) looks cartoonishly tiny compared to that trailer too. Thanks to its “rugged capabilities” I suppose? But yeah as a result the thing looks like its 2 4Runners tall and ends up with a tongue way too tall for most normal vehicles.

This. I didn’t give a shit about GM until their EV offerings. Still mostly true. The Volt was excellent, and I leased a Spark EV and Bolt - both were great (outside of their current battery fire issue).

I hope it’s a winner. First because it seems great, so good. But also hopefully this gets the attention of others, especially Toyota, and creates more competition in this space. Between the Santa Cruz and Maverick these are both great options depending on which end of the truck spectrum you want to fall in - style vs.

It uses a planetary-type CVT, and unlike many CVTs I’ve driven, I was able to forget it was a CVT, which is the highest praise any CVT can hope for.

Mitsubishi - absolutely. But Nissan seems to at least be trying to make a come back? The Z is interesting, and when it comes to the appliance vehicles the new Sentra is well regarded, and so is the Rogue and Pathfinder, within their categories. Not saying they are exciting or collectable by any means...but no less

Price seems a little steep given the mileage. There are countless AMGs with this drivetrain combo at this price point with fewer miles...but also given CL pricing maybe if you can actually buy this closer to $6k I couldn’t complain about it at that point.

Yup I love this drivetrain - it can be had in so many flavors, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with the C55. It’s a very stout and reliable powertrain for what it is. But at the stated mileage there are certainly better specimens to be had out there for the money.

Sure, like you said this is the kind of car you find of FB marketplace with blurry photos taken in the dark and thumbs blocking the license plate and buy it for $2k after a 5 minute inspection confirming that it does in fact start, and proceed to drive it in to the ground from that day on. Hilarious if some fools

looks like it’s right out of a Petrolicious video

Well...it WAS at the very beginning. Has lost all semblance of how it started at this point though because that’s not where the money is.

For what it’s worth we just moved to the East Coast (MA) from Oregon and I’m having a hell of a hard time getting our DLs and vehicle registrations switched over. They require in person appointments at a local RMV, and guess what...there are ZERO appointments available anywhere. I keep checking every morning,

Looking out my window I currently see a BMW (mine) that is seemingly more perfect with each passing day in how good it looks in its simplicity -

I wouldn’t judge Lucid just based on Ducey showing up to cut a ribbon. It’s pretty much common courtesy for any occasion like this. Whether they agree with his politics or not it probably would’ve been more of a headache for them to not extend an invitation to him.

If we had kept it longer we probably would’ve ended up upgrading the tow vehicle too (and we were debating getting a slightly bigger camper at some point...because that entire inside is one full sized bed, and 2 adults + kid will fit in there comfortably only for so long as the kid grows). Camper weighs around 1400lbs
