More dollars, sure. Not this much more. And not on a car with 300k miles. I just don’t know what the end goal would be with this purchase. It’s too expensive for a driver’s car. It’s got too many miles and work done to be a collectors item.

These E30s are great! Weird combination of cheap feeling plastic dash components and rock solid built like a tank feel. I haven’t spent a ton of time in E36s (currently have an E46) - but from what I remember the E36 feels pretty similar, maybe a bit more solidity feel due to the added weight. Tons of room for the…
This car is not original and has modifications - at that point the ‘is’ moniker is meaningless. It also has 300k+ miles. Personally I don’t mind miles on a driver one bit (sold my 89 E30 with 284k) - but that is 100% at odds with the car being considered a collector car.
I’m not scared of miles on an E30 one bit. I had one I sold with 284k miles 2 years ago. Even engines are cheap if you need to throw a new one in (ask how I know!).
Seriously, I was shocked with the overwhelming NP vote.
Agreed. I sold a relatively clean ‘89 325i with a hair under 300k miles for $6500 2 years ago because I thought the market was stupid crazy even back then.
Only thing missing is the ability to roll coal to show those trees and stupid animals who’s boss.
That’s me too (and certainly an outlier in the US). I’m on my second electric commuter (lease). We’ve agreed that my wife’s current Outback is our last new/expensive ICE car. At the very least our next family vehicle will be a PHEV. I will probably have an ICE car on the side just as a fun toy that gets tinkered with…
EXACTLY. Car looks clean, is well presented, and has good tires with plenty of tread. Suggests it has been well cared for. I won’t say this is a screaming deal, but it’s a fair price for what it is.
ha, that too. Totally didn’t even see that.
Hey, at least you’d be appealing to ~71 million potential buyers based on latest estimates!
Also add to this, there isn’t a Mr. Tire in the SF area I’m aware of (unless it’s some mom and pop outlet - at which point, why cite it like a place everyone would know?)...the actual company with that name only has locations on the other side of the country - https://locations.mrtire.com/
To add to the potential gag nature of this ad -
Great take - people complaining about the lack of range for their high mileage use cases is missing the point on who this is targeted towards and all the other cost savings it will bring the companies both in terms of maintenance and avoidance of downtime.
Wouldn’t fit your needs, or many others like our solar contractor friend on the first comment on this topic.
Resale value? Live in the here and now! And when you’re drowning in negative equity on a POS with a blown transmission and need another car just come on right back!
But my Trump supporting coworkers were saying that after November 4th the pandemic will be gone and we will be able to travel and gather socially again (because it’s all a con job).
Agreed. I’m curious what the distinction would be between being a contractor and a part-time employee in this case. I’m assuming there are still taxes withheld from payroll and paid by employer even in the part-time case....so with this direction what’s to stop all sorts of companies from just switching their…
Yeah I chalk it up to the polarized all-or-nothing nature of every aspect of life right now. If someone works 10 hours a week or whatever just as a side hustle, I get it - makes no sense to pay benefits on that. Alternatively if someone is working full time and uses this as their primary job then it should pay like…
