I definitely believe he comes across as worse in the pull quotes that get tossed about social media. Variety’s gonna get a lot more engagement if they can start fights between fandoms.
A Trancers reference in my “let’s cast shade on The Rock” article comment section??
Sorry, that’s Leaf Phoenix — Joaquin Phoenix’s first movie was 1995's To Die For. As far as I can tell, he didn’t exist before then.
This is how I feel. It’ll take place some time later, so aging of the actors shouldn’t be an issue. The story doesn’t take place in one specific location, so they wouldn’t have to hold onto a set for an indefinitely period of time.
It’s still baffling to me how skittish studio execs can be — to see a disappointment like Batman & Robin and immediately think, “Well, I guess people are just done with all superhero movies!” Because this one stupid movie was ill-conceived and largely disliked, this entire genre is suddenly abandoned. I think it was…
I’m imagining the whole team dies. Maybe Starlord lives. Gunn gets to walk away cleanly. Marvel can reboot the characters with a new cast eventually.
The scene:
I do think the sequels will eventually find more popularity just as the prequels did. The generation of kids who grew up on the sequels and harbor deep nostalgia for them will start being the people who are writing and directing the new movies/shows. Sequel defenders will come of age. It’s the circle of fandom!
It honestly upsets me, this need to completely scrap casting in order to do a reboot. Gunn himself was able to keep the the casting continuity for his Suicide Squad soft reboot. I’m not interesting in Gunn’s “younger Superman” story. Give us a really strong Cavill Superman story.
I was not a fan of “Brightburn” - the what-if-Superman-was-evil movie that Gunn produced.
I just wanted one really great Cavill Superman movie, dammit.
I’m curious about how James Cameron deals with studio exec notes. You figure he’s got enough clout at this stage to disregard any/all notes that he disagrees with.
Looking forward to finding out who this goofy-lookin’ bro is!
Yes, this comment section is a real bummer. People on the internet performatively disinterested in a big movie.
A teaser for a movie that’s over a year from release -- seems early, for something that isn’t a big IP.
Was recently thinking about how the success of the SONIC movies must be leading to more movie adaptations of the Sega catalog. I adored Toejam & Earl on the Genesis but it was a more obscure title. (And no longer owned by Sega?)
Born Again = Reborn = Reboot
Saying that “Thunderbolts” is gonna be them “dropping a bomb” seems like a bad headline for a movie that hasn’t even started production.
I hit Splash twice on my last visit in October. Most of the ride is wonderful tease leading up to the big finale. I adore it, I will miss it. But I’m glad they’re finally getting this done. The Disney Parks thrive on a balance between nostalgia and innovation and they’ve been very slow-moving with innovation.
