I saw the movie at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn and they played this clip as part of their pre-show.  (Pretty sure they played it before the first movie, too.)

A generation of older comic book fans expecting a Death that looks like a young Tori Amos, I can’t imagine what could go wrong! Fan culture can get so toxic, I’m hoping the Sandman fanbase doesn’t turn out to be just as terrible as others. Howell-Baptiste should definitely get into a social media bunker when the first

Haven’t seen it in a while but I remember liking it.  Gritty 70s crime drama.  Stuffy, conservative George C. Scott descends into this porn underbelly to try to find his daughter.  Good stuff.

HARDCORE is the name of a crazy 1979 film, written and directed by Paul Schrader.

Exactly! Like one sentence and you fade out the dialogue but you also see how his body language has changed to being more open. Less clenched/closed. A man going from folded arms and leaning back — to open arms and a slight lean forward. It can be physically transformative without any heavy lifting. You can do this

I would have loved that -- and it wouldn’t have had to take a lot of time.  Show him coming back.  We don’t even have to hear everything he’s saying, just show him returning and starting to talk.

I loved THE BRIDE (1985) as a kid. I know this movie probably won’t be referencing that movie (esp since it was Bride of Frankenstein), but the idea of Nathalie Emmanuel carrying on from Jennifer Beals in another “Bride” movie sounds good to me.

I feel like Matt Murdock and Laurel Lance being kind of terrible lawyers is a story weakness, too!

I wish they’d kept the title “All You Need is Kill”.  I don’t know if it makes any sense, but it’s so much stranger and more evocative than either “Edge of Tomorrow” or “Live.Die.Repeat.”

As someone who’s been through therapy over the years, I wasn’t a fan of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s depiction of therapy. The actors elevate it and make it fun, but it feels like “therapy” scenes written by someone who doesn’t understand or care about therapy. Like it’s just a joke.

This article’s making me itch...

THANK YOU. I’m aware it’s problematic but TEMPLE was my favorite Indy movie as a child. I was the perfect age when it came out. The opening Busby Berkeley musical number, dressing Indiana Jones in a tux so Spielberg could play out his dream of directing a “Bond” movie, Short Round gave me a character I could relate to

Anyone old enough to remember video stores still around? I just remember seeing those VHS tapes in video stores growing up. Over the years, it was the most taboo VHS rental that I was so curious about but just could not get it. It’s weird when something like a VHS box can take on its own sort of power, like a cursed

A Will Vinton sailor, no less!

Just because he didn’t get the part doesn’t mean he wasn’t great in the audition. There’s no shortage of stories of actors thinking they bombed an audition, only to find out that they won the part. There are lots of stories of actors who gave brilliant auditions, but didn’t get the role because of some executive

Ditto!  I thought it was a small man!

Just watched BIOMES today, after watching Bad Batch. So cool. (I’ve got this new 65" 4K TV and it just looks spectacular.) Years ago, when HDTVs were starting to become more of a thing, the Discovery Channel had this show called “Sunrise Earth” that had no narration, just these long shots of nature and natural sounds f

I didn’t realize it was Kanan until I read this article.  (I’ve seen all of REBELS but I’ve only seen up to Season 2 of CLONE WARS -- so many episodes....)  I was a little confused because Caleb looked like a child but his voice sounded like an adult man, so I actually thought it was just a short man.

Love the show. Love that it really exploits the animation medium: that series finale alone would have been totally cost prohibitive to do live action. There are similarities to THE BOYS, but it feels like it’s not playing for laughs as much. It feels like it’s just trying to ground superheroes into more of a real

I thought this article was going to bring up the assault allegations from last year, that I thought would derail this movie but I guess not...
