Alas, the video’s been taken down. If only there were some manner of magical mirror...

The main reason Alien never connected like Trek or Wars is the R-rating, plain and simple.
Also, Ready Player One is about these people with nostalgia for the pop culture that Spielberg directly helped create. It’s fanboy fiction. But Spielberg can’t be a fanboy of his own work, and the work of his peers at the time.
I thought this was going to be a spin on the real life “National Blacks in Wax Museum” that I heard about in an episode of THIS AMERICAN LIFE.
READY PLAYER ONE is also a rare Spielberg film that won’t feature a score by John Williams. Instead, it’ll feature music by Alan Silvestri... who scored BACK TO THE FUTURE.
I love the “Back the Future” music cue at the very end of the READY PLAYER ONE trailer. Looks like the Delorean is featured prominently, but I’m just so curious what’s going to be in the actual film because it’s got to be so different from the book.
{Oh goodness, thank you, Beth, for creating a space to discuss this episode as most of my friends may not get to it for about another year...}
Spent 6 months unemployed this past year, entering the Hamilton ticket lottery every day it was open. Didn’t get it once, suffice it to say.
2nd time I saw the movie, when that moment happens, all I heard was someone toward the back of the theater cry out,
I’m pretty sure it’s called DARKMAN Syndrome.
Yes, I know. And it’s a revisionist history he likes to spin about having it all figured out in advance, because he clearly changed a lot along the way. But it was still one person with a general overarching idea of where he wanted to go with the story through the different chapters.
I watched LAST JEDI again today (and made this GIF).
Leo Karpatze, of course, composed the original version of Monster Mash, which you can listen to here.
That project got developed to death.
My issue with all of this speculation is that, from all interviews so far, it seems clear that THERE IS NO LARGER PLAN HERE.
Not to When-I-Was-A-Kid here, but when I was a kid... the best you could hope for was maybe find a mailing address where you could send a fan letter to a celebrity. It’s so surreal that almost everyone is immediately within reach.
I was born in ‘76 so I grew up in the same pop culture frame.
I’d like a Fensler Films version of G.I. Joe, pls.
I liked that Casino World! I just wish they’d shown a little blue hedgehog racing through it, stealing coins.
Setting up a mystery with a resolution that defies expectation is one thing, setting up a mystery that isn’t a mystery at all is annoying.
