I see where you are coming from, as I feel the same. But funnily enough, at the same time I feel the opposite about Sony. I love their narrative-driven exclusives, most of them, anyway (HZD didn’t click with me, that’s the only exception).

I’ve played the last two days and the only real tuning I’ve done is lower the Air pressure on everything.
I agree with Dylan on this one. I own both TLoU and H:ZD, and haven’t touched either (I’ve been meaning to get to the latter for awhile), because especially for TLoU, I’m never in the mood for that type of game. As a quote in the above article states, sometimes you just want to play a videogame that knows it’s a…
It’s a little funny the article describes it as “one you can recommend without hesitation or caveats” but then later adds the caveat that not much else has really come out recently.
I haven’t played a racing game since GTsomething like 8 years ago. I’m really pumped to pick this up this weekend and just drive around.
Much applause for FH5 for sure, but I will say that I’m still hoping for an improvement in MS’s storytelling output. Forza is tons of fun but it isn’t something that compels me on an emotional level. Xbox feels like it’s in desperate need of more unique icons and more powerful personal stories, like you’d get from a La…
I love this aspect. You can completely ignore the tuning and simulation if you want and just explore and enjoy the landscape. theres something for everyone in the Horizon series
Horizon 4 was the first one I enjoyed playing; the previous ones felt a bit too arcady. Horizon 5 feels as good as 4 regarding “simulation”driving, but something about the races gives a little bit more of an arcade racer vibe than the last one.
Hell ya! I’ve been a Forza fan since the original on OG Xbox and this makes me so happy to hear. I’m surprised by the number of “I don’t play racing games but I love Forza Horizon” comments.
I’m absolutely loving FH5, it’s truly an incredible game, I’m excited to see what Playground does with Fable in the future!
i started with FH4, sounds like i should go back and look at them as ignore 99.9% of the multiplayer stuff in FH4. Thanks for the tip!
It’s very concerning. Don’t get me wrong, I’m hyped, but I’m worried it’s going to get stale much sooner than FH4 as they may not have done enough to actually distinguish this game from the last.
Long time Forza player here (since Forza 1) with records in various games. I’m absolutely looking forward to Horizon 5, but I fear it will just be more of Horizon 4 in a new location. There’s a chance it will become stale much sooner than the previous game. It’s missing the new game engine that’s being developed for…
So Forza Horizon 5 quickly settles into a rhythm: Do minor events, get points, unlock major events, rinse, wash, repeat.
This will be my first Forza game thanks to Game Pass and I’m getting a bit hyped to try it out for the visuals alone. It really looks beautiful and truly “Next-Gen” imo.
Every time a Forza game is released I’m convinced this is the one that will suck me in. Every time I’m wrong. With Game Pass I’ll be sure to give it a try, but like the last one and the one before that, I’m sure that 108gb of space will be opened up for something more my style in no time. I think it’s what you said…
Thats interesting, we’ve taken different things away from similar experiences. As a fellow video game oldy its the fact that I grew up with all this text is why I want it to stop too. I’m so over all of it, I want things to move on. ha ha. Anyway, glad you are finding plenty to enjoy though.
I tend to agree when looking at static screenshots, but the thing about voxels is you can get them to look damn good in motion, because using voxels simplifies simulations, so you can get *really* good physics/lighting/particles/audio simulation. Look at Noita, Teardown, and Cloudpunk for good examples. A regular…
I don’t dislike the voxel art style they used here, but I do think the human characters have kind of ugly designs.
I’d venture to guess you’re in the very small minority there. The vast majority of indie games use text instead of VO and they’ll continue to do so because it’s prohibitively expensive for most small devs to hire actors. Most players could care less because we understand this is just how smaller games are made and…
