It’s strange to me that a lot of people who decried that one senator’s online ad showing him as an Attack on Titan hero taking out titans with the faces of AOC and Biden (and Pelosi, IIRC?) would probably love to boot up Minecraft and kill some effigies. The wheel keeps turning, I guess...

“"morality is based on circumstance’ is a degree of moral relativism I’m simply never going to be comfortable with"

The only way your argument holds up is if you accept that video game violence causes real life violence. If it doesn’t then Ian is not advocating for it in any way encouraging real life violence.

currently, you’re misunderstanding my position.

i dont think this is intentional, but youve been creating strawmen which have been effective at demonstrating what your position is, but ineffective at showing how your position has any value in the real world.

okay. so if someone were able to demonstrate to you that violence *would* actually be effective in creating political change in this and other areas, you would change your mind and agree that violence should be on the table?

What the hell Kotaku, have you lost your god damned minds? Calling for violence against federal employees? You realize you are saying this on THE INTERNET, and not just other commoners, but news agencies and authorities are reading this, right? RIGHT?

Personally, I agree that adding models of people into video games so that you can act out fantasy violence against them is childish and pointless. This kind of puerile behavior doesn’t accomplish anything.

I enjoy all types of games, big and small, indie and AAA, spanning all genres. Recently, I’ve found myself enjoying the smaller experiences much more as the AAA space becomes stagnant. That being said, playing $70 AAA games for your subscription fee is very appealing.

This so much. Honestly $30 is my limit for buying games these days. I play so much, average finishing 30 games a year, I can’t be spending $60 dollars per game. Meanwhile 3 years of game pass cost me aroun $75. Keep me plenty busy.

Also it’s weird saying this post is evidence that it’s heating up. Two games that came out last week and a handful of others, including a sports game year refresh. At least the departing list isn’t too bad.

the only times I buy games at this point are when they are either super cheap or becoming harder to find (delisted for instance).

Not to mention there are hundreds of games there at any given time. Its been this narrative here for a while with the anti-game pass takes. But I’ve been playing tons of games pass games. I rarely even buy a game these days. I feel like Ari forgets that normal people don’t play every single game that hits and just

Have you played Far Cry 4? It takes everything from 3 and makes it better (maybe minus the villain).

I quite enjoyed Far Cry 5. But that’s an odd series for me because I seem to like only the odd numbered games. Of course I misread it earlier on twitter and got excited thinking Far Cry 6 was coming to gamepass.

I feel the same about fighting games. The only games of that type that I’ve enjoyed are the Soul Calibur series, where the fighting is weapon based. It gives me a little room to maneuver that doesn’t happen with hand-to-hand fighters.

I’m a button masher to the core.

About how I am with smash bros. I've tried reading some of the deeper strats and my eyes glaze over. I don't strictly button mash but I just enjoy playing and trying all the characters.

Absolutely, it’s a rut that I will have to contend with, a little more empathy never hurt anyone. Thanks for the chat!

I enjoy fighters too but by God do I refuse to give a shit about recovery times and move cancellations. And I refuse to only learn one character
