GAZ 66
My dad always tells me stories like this from Soviet Armenia. Like you said, he got permission to go get his license as a communications officer in the Red Army. He drove his GAZ 66 radio truck to the ‘DMV’, got his license, and drove back.
I’m pretty sure the Rubicon is in the Sierra Nevada’s, near Lake Tahoe

Well, if Toyota wanted to make an American style full size, they’d want coils in the front. They could use lengthened axles from the 75 pickup in the rear, hell maybe the frame as well. The fact is it wouldn’t have been a wide HiLux with that 3VZ
I like to think how great it would have been if Toyota built the T100 with the coil sprung 80 series axle in front, with an optional one ton full floater 75 pickup axle in rear and the 1FZ/1HZ sixes mated to an H151F and the part time HF2A. It could have been “full size”
Fun fact for all the Land Cruiser guys on here, Toyota donated a bunch of FJ75s to the US Marines
