S2000 broke my back

Let me know when this situation occurs with the Maverick. That is the only Ford model I’m remotely interested in at this point.

IDK, I see a lot of Mavericks running around. Apparently there are some sensible truck owners out there who realize they dont need an F350 on 37's to drive to the office.

I think this is a lot of pointless handwringing. Interest rates are higher than what people are used to and the cars I have seen on the lot sticker for 70k and the dealer is not budging on price. Even with he fed money the cars are close to 20k over the average out the door price for American consumers.

Yes, but isn’t Toyota going full bore on solid-state battery EVs?  I think they hold over 1300 patents and are partnered with Panasonic that has close to 500 patents with regards to battery technology.

The new hotness that was EVs has seemed to start cooling off.

The crazy part is that one and the black premium, are “in transit”

The other 4 GTs are spread around between the 6 local dealerships. I suspecting the Mach-Es sitting on lots are at dealerships that don’t know how to sell cars or don’t match the local demand for vehicles. This is where Ford’s quota/ ordering system

I think a price correction is in order.

The closest Ford dealer to my house has Five Mach-Es that they say are on the lot and an additional 15 that are either ‘in transit’ or ‘dealer ordered’

Maybe the $7.5K dealer markup is part of the issue?

Low income people don’t qualify for the full $7,500 tax credit. People need to stop making it sound like it’s a rebate or discount coupon of some kind, it’s not. You are still paying for (or financing) the full price of the car, not the reduced amount. An individual needs an income of at least $54,000 to have a tax

But then you have to own a Tesla model 3, the most generic and boring of the electric cars.

Yeah, but you’re still buying a Tesla, which is objectively gross.

Nailed it.

Yeah, but then you paid 32k for something that some how looks less cool than a Dodge Dart.

The only real things holding me back are the lack of freedom-coupons and living deep enough in the woods of Whitetrashistan that I’d risk infuriating the local population of semiconscious hate-driven dinglefucks just by owning one.

Dealerships will be the death of good cars.

I think Axios and the author are fixated on the upper end of the market, hence my comment.

This is pretty disingenuous. The base model Camry starts at 26k which is almost 20% less. And I’m not sure how the rebate works, but it’s not instant, is it? You still have to take out a loan for a 40k+ car, right?

I was surprised by the Hummer’s inclusion as well. It’s possible that dealer markups are also keeping the few that have trickled out unsold. It’s already a six figure GMC, which will limit the buyer pool, but drop a five figure dealer markup on top and even fewer people will be interested.
