$600 a month for a car payment, most likely on a 72+ month term? I’ve done 2 new cars, recently, for not much more than that combined. Yikes.

I would wager that they are referring to monthly income (gross) to monthly payment ratio. So if you make $3k a month before tax, you can afford a $300 payment. It’s similar to the advice that a mortgage payment should be equal or less than one week’s gross pay, or roughly 25% monthly pay.

Basically anything pre-80s is at best overrated. I’ve driven all of the supposed greats, and never came away impressed. Overstated numbers, ponderous handling, and awful interiors abound. Many sound great, but that's not enough to compete. That experience left me glad that I grew up with better options.

It’s fairly straight forward to "modify" an employee's time card when they work more hours than you want to pay them.
