Mitsubishi is never the answer...
For what they are, a compact pickup truck, they’re the only thing going. They’re pretty awful to drive, though.
Wow, how things have changed in the small pickup market! About a year ago, I helped a friend buy the Mazda version of this, but with a manual, for $2700 with about 100k miles and no warning lights. ND for me on principle, but probably will sell quickly.
Explain how holding cash rather than spending it on a highly depreciating asset is a better decision. If I have 20k in cash and need a car, paying cash for the car does nothing to shield me from an economic catastrophe. If I pay cash for the car, then lose my job a year later due to recession, I’ll be lucky to get…
There’s more to life than 0-60...
I refuse to participate in the romanticization of these mediocre (at best) 80's crapwagons. They are not half as good as people like to remember, and are habitually overpriced, even before the current market spike. ND out of moral obligation.
None of what you said refutes my points that EV and ICE fires are different and that we lack the fire suppression technology to handle then effectively. You actually proved my point by admitting that new technology is needed to address EV fire suppression. It needs to be addressed because it has the potential to be a…
It helps that VW’s SUVs are great vehicles. I upgraded from a sportwagen to a Tiguan last year since I needed something higher up due to a nagging back injury. I was shocked at how well the AWD Tiguan handles compared to the sportwagen. It’s got tons more cargo space, handles better, and came with some safety…
I have firsthand experience. EV fires take exponentially more resources to extinguish than ICE fires. A typical car fire call for my local dept on the interstate lasts about 45 min or so for one truck and crew. An EV car fire requires all hands on deck from multiple divisions and lasts for hours, tying up resources…
EV fires are a big public safety problem. You can’t equate them to ICE vehicle fires.
Most depts are training for EVs now. The problem is that the current solution is to throw massive amounts of water and manpower at a single fire.
“You filthy little beast"
But can it summon while on fire?
The bigger issue is the seriousness of an electric vehicle for compared to a ICE vehicle fire. The sheer amount of resources required to put out a single EV fire is staggering. It usually takes multiple crews and tens of thousands of gallons of water many hours to put one out safely. An ICE vehicle fire can typically…
Lol. You think that a manual precludes texting? That's adorable.
Yup. You don't want your kid driving around in a $5k Karman Ghia. It's probably held together by rust.
In this market I can’t imagine that you can be very picky at a $5k price point. Not a total sleeper, but a V6 Tiburon with the 6-speed is okay stock and very upgradeable.
I thought those engines were notoriously unreliable. At least that was the word on the street when they were newish. Mine was a VR6, which was awesome, so I never rolled the dice on the 1.8T.
There’s a reason you don’t see those on the road anymore. They were built to be disposable, and they achieved that goal.
