Most good project cars that I have done started at $500 for the car in running condition and than just plucking away on it(while driving it occasionally to work) for a few years till done. Maybe look for a vehicle that has the Styling but is an off model.

I have a Three letter Word that i hope will help and has Helped me start building a fun cruiser. AMC. For some reason no one, NO ONE really collects them and you can get decent NON Muscle car models in great shape for cheap all day, every day. Get an AMC 360 or 401, build it up. Home done paint job and some basic work

I noticed the battery tray is on the Drivers side. Thats Odd. I owned a DJ at one point and currently have a RHD Alaskan CJ8 Postal jeep and both had the battery Pan located on the passenger side, above the blower motor. I wonder if over time they decided maintnence was easier that way? Both my postals had the 258

We should meet up so your DJ can hang with His Hipper CJ8 Postal Buddy

Ace hardware is a franchise shop and tends to be locally owned. I know our Ace hardware in town is supurb and they pay their guys and gals a decent wage. Also any local hardware store that serious Contractors/builders buy from will be leaps and bounds better than the Prosumer stores like Lowes and Home Depot.

We are scoping out three cj10a tugs right now. Appearance they use a FSJ frame thatch been beefed up w/Dana 70 rear. We also have out eyes on a good j20 frame and axles.... The two shall become one(splice from the cab back onto the j20 frame) and make a sweet car hauler/Scrambler emergency recovery vehicle

1964/1965 4 Door Rambler. Get your hands on an AMC 401, put  TBI on it plkus install a LSD in the amc 20 rear end. An unassuming classic car that has trucnk space and room for the kids. All the while able to shred tires.

Run into the same thing all the time in Telecomunications. I show up, without a badge, a work bucket in hand and a JDSU w/Telco hard hat. They let me right into their most secure coms room/co without a second thought.

Are Non extreme but normal daily jeep projects allowed?

To be fair, If you use a pickup as a pickup and not an excuse to have a LuxoBarge, than its not a deal. Theres a reason why they make “Tradesmen” Models.

That being said, 70k Pickups never made sense to me

But.....there are a lot of diesels that have spark plugs, and evens few small Cummins that use a spark plug like glow plug...

Its a standards thing for me. I do not agree with their business practices and they are, for all intensive purposes, an evil company. They have made recent strides that have me changing my opinion a little, but i still refuse to shop there. I can find the same prices at other locations just as easily.

Should get them a GEO or a Festiva. Slow rally cars that are hard to get going fast and easy to fix.

Like these, they still sell em on amazon. Can get the same tires new that came on the CJ7 from the factory.

This seems to be the best option

Fair enough. I Would say we are more Like Pennsylvanian as far as redneck goes...but ya

Alaska Isnt Redneck by any stretch of the Imagination any more than Michigan is

I have been on a Teal kick with all my valve covers lately. I dont know why, but it looks good. I want to get the block this color too

I think fender cutting is OK if you are trying to repair a worse issue(like non exsistant rockers)

Its not that Bad, i am working on getting my soon to be Daily Finished(RHD CJ8 Jeep). It doesnt bother me, but my wife’s spacial awareness is thrown outta wack by it and hence needing a new fender.
