Turns out the real star of SNL was Studio 8-H all along.

If there were ever a time to leave a letter grade out of the mix, this probably could have been it.

That’s the healthiest Pete Davidson has looked in some time. Quarantine with Mom seems to agree with him.

Alec Baldwin’s Trump dutifully called in mid-Update for some of his/their wonted mushy satire...

I have always found Michael Che just incredibly physically attractive, and now that I have seen him perform in a sweatshirt, I never want to see him in a suit again. Raaawr.

The man deserves an Honorary EGOT. When you win an Emmy for a song you wrote for the Tonys ceremony....

This hurts a lot. Adam’s songs have been with me for every part of my life for the last twenty years. I heard “Sink to the Bottom” in high school, adopted “Leave the Biker” as an ironic theme song, and bought a CD of Utopia Parkway just after it came out. I learned to play “Troubled Times” after a big breakup and

Ugh, fuck this. I just got over Covid and I’m only a few years younger than Adam.  This sucks.

“Not a fan of Mulaney”

Your story in this post is probably more engaging than this remake.

I really preferred the seemingly obligatory political cold open being this goofy idea where the sketch takes place in hell versus the usual sand poundingly literal political material they do where everyone just says slightly more exaggerated versions of what the actual politicians themselves are saying. This was the

One of my favorite sketches with Jones in it is the house-hunting one with her and Liev Schreiber. What I really love is the concept and writing, it’s not like Jones makes the sketch or does anything incredible, but she was really good in it, in a part that doesn’t play off the “big black woman is intimidating thing”

The problem with Leslie on SNL is that as soon as she was on screen you knew what the joke was. This big black woman is going to yell at someone about something, and that’s about it. I think that can be deployed usefully and hilariously at times, but they needed to write her more than just that, and they never did.

I never got the sense that Jon was trying hard to convince us he’s smart.

I had forgotten she had left until I read your comment. Never had an issue with her on SNL but didn't notice her absence, which seems more damning than being relieved.

Between spearing the dead bird on his cane last time and throwing the tape dispenser right onto the shelf, Adam Driver is the master of live-television stunt comedy, a category I never knew existed.

Disagree. The Stewart Daily Show showed a firm commitment to its principles, a willingness to hear out just about everyone civilly while still pointing out when their opponent was arguing in bad faith, and made cogent arguments using the subject’s own words to illustrate hypocrisy. It may not have hit the mark every

I have no response to that.

You’re both wrong.

I’ve always wanted to go up to Tom Hanks and tell him, “you can win Golden Globes and Academy Awards by the truckload, but Bachelor Party is still my favorite movie.”
