Tap fills a square. The puzzles are never more than 10x15, so that the squares are large enough to tap, but they form panels of a larger, pretty picture. Each puzzle has 4 or 5 colors, which allow it to be a complex-enough puzzle in the 10x15 layout.

You'll have to upgrade Odin to 5-star to get it, but that tome he has is SWEEEEET. I put it on Linde, and with a couple of buffers on each side she absolutely nukes everything with a pulse.

Good points on the plot. I'm really a sucker for games that have more grounded stories than 'evil is gonna destroy the world', because you know it ain't, and therefore the plot is right away not going to surprise you much. Plots with lower stakes ironically feel more alive, because they could go anywhere.
