I'm always amazed nothing has been done with Star Tropics over the years. I guess it doesn't sell well on the Virtual Console.

Breath of the Wild: This game always finds a way to surprise. I took down the lava Divine Beast (really dig the 90-degree-turn level design!), spent a few days wandering a bit and killing White Lynels to get parts for my Barbarian Armor, nabbed a really large and fat horse, and gave up on a horseback archery

I agree with this so much. I recently made the jump into fighting games with Mortal Kombat X and Street Fighter V, and both required lengthy forays into various forums, Youtube videos, and free e-books to even begin to start figuring out the details of the systems. And by the time I did all that, I was way too good

His demeanor and outfit were certainly the same, and he had a woman dressed as him (with fake beard, natch) walking him around. I didn't get to hear him say much, so hard to say on that front.

Oh, absolutely. We sat down with no idea what to do and were able to have a fun game immediately. As far as I know, there's only one button and the joystick.. but it may just be that we don't understand what the other button did.

Skyrim VR, for sure. Everyone has wanted it, no one thought we were getting it. We may start seeing people drop out of society completely in a few months.

I forgot to mention in WAYPTW, but last weekend I went to the Southern Fried Gaming Expo, and it was glorious. Highlights:

Oh, you'll definitely have to dip into potions and oils and such in the DLC.. there are some HARD battles (on Nightmare, at least). I hadn't been challenged in the main game since about 25% in, really, but Hearts of Stone made me have to totally rethink my approach.

Interesting.. I had almost the exactly same thoughts with Crosscells. I guessed at a couple in the middle, but by the end it was all pure logic. I had assumed that I just hadn't thought of a trick in the middle that I did think of later, but.. maybe not?

Agreed.. I had such a great time with Missile and Bissel. I'd love to see another one, but the plot was pretty much done by the end, so I can see why it wouldn't make sense creatively.

If you like it up next to the TV, try it in VR.. holy moly!

I think Hexcells is definitely top, but that may be just because there's so many puzzles that I feel like it was a more satisfying meal (granted, spread across 3 games). Squarecells and Crosscells just felt over so quickly.. you knock out 20 "tutorial" puzzles in then first 10 minutes, and you're halfway done. Seems

You cranky old ape!

Oh god, this is bumming me out more than I thought it would!

I always loved MGS2 despite the haters. Maybe they didn't finish the game, or maybe they heard a bunch of academic babble where I heard an important and fascinating message. But that last section of MGS2 is the high point in the series for me as far as my mind being blown.

Jeez, yeah, it's kinda insane how far you get into DQ7 before major systems become available. It's both frustrating and a little exciting, as it makes you wonder what other major changes they're holding back on later in the game..

Insightful as always! /cheer

I've always preferred the ABD approach.. Always Be Drifting. I start slides well before the turn, so by the time the turn approaches I've generally got a boost. Those boosts add up.

Oh, and how can I forget Fire Emblem Heroes?? I just completed my second pull on the Vantage Heroes banner, and squat. My entire time with the game has produced zero Vantage units. Hector is not overpowered enough yet.. he needs sacrifices!!

Wow. In the already-stellar pantheon of SAM posts, this one takes the cake.
