Oh man, that sucks. Hope you had some fun at least. That Subie has such a cool livery, btw!

Yeah I agree, we’re discussing semantics and your point of view is entirely acceptable. Nice photos, by the way! That last one in the article is awesome.
The United States of America is a class-based society. The money class, and everyone else.
In the Capitol of the world Capital is what truly gains you strength.
I just don’t understand. If this were London, Paris or Tokyo, the driver would do some prison time. How, in the self-proclaimed ‘capital of the world’ can we not make reckless driving charges stick? To anyone! And in this town, it is super east to commit murder with your car and not even be arrested!
Defense Attorney: I move that we dismiss this case due to lack of evidence.
Judge: We have multiple videos of your client crashing into cars and acting intoxicated. What does the prosecution have to say?
Prosecuting Attorney: I’m here. I’m not a cat.
Because multiple people have brought that to my attention, including emailing the tips line to insinuate that Pastrana is some kind of murderer lover. I just wanted to clear the air about that particular sponsor, which is getting some attention online.
that 150mph jump though
Honest question: have you ever tracked a sports car (including something low-powered like the 86 or Miata)?
I’ve come to realize that anyone that calls this car slow either:
With proper tires, this vehicle will straight up embarass significantly more expensive metal on a proper circuit.
I’m mostly curious what he thinks is “slow” about it? Don’t these get like a 6 second 0-60? I know some crossovers can do that, but that doesn’t mean it’s slow, those are just quick people movers that still can’t take a corner worth a damn, this BRZ can
It’s comments like this that have killed affordable performance cars.
I’m wondering just how ugly Toyota will make the next GT86 if this is what we’re getting for the BRZ.
I love being able to rev the car out, but I think that bump in torque and the earlier onset will make a big difference for perceived quickness (and potentially for actual 0-60 time). I’m interested to see how big of a difference it makes and excited to see they kept the weight down at the same time.
I like the old front better, too, but I can already tell that this one is going to grow on me fast. The car has a young, sprightly, willing stance that somehow reminds me of an Opel GT.
Crucially, the 184 ft-lbs comes on at 3,700 rpm (where the torque dip was), vs the 156 ft-lbs of before coming on at 6,400 rpm.
I’m not sure how I feel about the new fascia. It doesn’t feel like it fits with the original body at all... I think I prefer the old design to be honest. As for engine, I’m really curious what people will say now that they’ve addressed the torque dip.
I think the old BRZ/86 is better looking, but the bump in power is really nice. From photos I’ve seen, the new interior still looks like dog shit. Aesthetically, the Miata has this beat inside and out. It’ll be interesting to see how it performs.
Or they are admirably sticking to their guns and refusing to accept the very real tradeoffs of forced induction engines in light, sporty cars.
