Probably didn’t know, didn’t care, or deliberately wanted to fuck shit up (I’ve seen all three). If they came in from a minor side junction or a driveway there would have only been some banner tape and maybe a volunteer or two in reflective vests.

Shakedown roads are closed the same way actual rally stages are closed.

While sponsorship (like media coverage) isn't as nonexistent in the rest of the world as it is in the states it's still not as prevalent as it appears. A lot of those sponsors are personal connections (driver/family/longtime friend owns the sponsoring business)

I can’t deny I’ve taken a hearse through a drive thru on more than one occasion, and at times with a rear passenger. Though never as part of (or during) a formal service.

These things are absolutely tiny. 13 feet long, 5 feet wide, 13" wheels.

In addition to what others have said, he was probably running out of gear at the end. Part of the reason rally cars accelerate so fast is due to short gearing. Most top out in the 120-135 range.

Sponsorship, lol

Counterargument: these weigh less than a ton, which means at 200 HP their power-to-weight is about the same as a Focus RS

Pretty sure your cars lived in San Marcos because they weren't road legal and storing them at the track meant not having to tow them.

Admittedly I don’t live in A Big City so this isn’t something I can speak about with authority, but I feel like the best option as a car enthusiast in A Big City is to store the car outside the Big City. Between the costs of storing the car in the city, parking the car when you drive it around the city, tolls when

Group B car prices are insane, unraced/undriven ones doubly so. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this went for even more than the estimate.

That line is literally what’s killing people. At that altitude your body rapidly starts to die. Stay above 26,000 feet for more than 24 hours and your odds of dying become extremely high, no matter what supplies or equipment you have.

Now playing

Regarding the difficulty and expense of recovering bodies from Everest, per this 2017 article a number of the companies that help climbers reach the summit will charge as much as $30,000 to recover your body if they die on the mountain.

I’ve done a lot of miles in a lot of rally cars at a lot of rallies. None of them have been what I would even remotely call plush when traveling in the vicinity of the speed limit.

That rally suspension will be a feather filled pillow if you drive on the streets in NY.”

You won't be regretting anything. I was right seat in that crash and I regret nothing. Mike (the driver/owner) said after it was still worth it and is already talking about the next build. Do it.

It seems like they've transitioned more to the duct style scoop over the past ten or so years, which I wholly support

I think by “last time” he meant that generation not that specific year

The car accident fear is too real
