Smart is actually a sort of acronym for Swatch-Mercedes Art. The first Smart was a collaboration between Swatch and Mercedes. The Art bit comes from both companies being pretentious

This exactly

Not any more (not in the States anyway). Ford sold about 2.5 million cars last year in the U.S, Subaru sold 600k. They’re not nearly in the same league, but for Subaru to be even at a quarter of Ford’s volume is impressive, especially when their brand has such a narrow vehicle range by comparison.

That camera angle from inside the motor home looks like someone yelled “Hey, Kool-Aid!”

I wonder who suggested the AMG...

Co-drove this flat-6-swapped Porsche 912 at Oregon Trail Rally in 2014. At one point we had a small off that was nearly a veery big crash with a veery big tree.

Back in ‘09 we rented a Dodge Nitro and a Grand Caravan in Vegas and used them as chase vehicles for the Vegas to Reno desert race (which was a three day event that year). Too much $$$$$

Not when you’re just starting, save the power for later

I took a cutoff wheel to the knuckle years back. There was blood, but fortunately no serious damage

And I can still imagine you running out of spares

There were three of them in there a week ago

That Peugeot is nice

Navigator. The screen in front of him is a marine gps with the course map on it. He lets the driver know about any upcoming curves, dangers, etc. Unfortunately some dangers aren’t included in the map file

This is accurate

The habit of manmade features/booby traps being added to the course pretty much only happens at events down in Baja. It doesn’t happen at stateside events (in part because spectating at US events is restricted to certain pre-approved locations). The crash happened during the qualifying race, which takes place on a

Crossfire confirmed

Actually that’s pretty accurate. Particularly for the grassroots guys
