Exactly this

I would read this

Very tempting, but I think I already found something

Shit, I can actually make it this time. Just need to get my hands on a sufficiently Dusty Ventures car

Did a little Googling, it looks like US trailers built after 1998 are required to have ABS, but based on this conversation in a truckers’ forum it sounds like system reliability and maintenance of that system isn’t of the highest priority for drivers.

Thinking about it, I suspect a fair part of it comes down to the trailers. There’s no denying American trailers are basic, antiquated things that have seen very little change in the past 50 years. Hell, they’re still struggling (stubbornly resisting because of cost of extra material) to get the Mansfield bar figured

From what I’ve seen European trucks generally also seem to be able to stop better than American trucks (and with less risk of jacknifing). I don’t know if they’re held to a higher standard or what over there, but even the American truckers I’ve talked to say the stopping distance of those Euro cabovers is unbelievable.

World Rallycross will be streaming on the Ford Performance YouTube if you’re in the United States, and the FIA WorldRX YouTube if you’re not

Don’t forget the final round of the World Rallycross Championship Sunday morning

Not to be that guy, but Rhyolite is in Nevada (just west of Beatty), not California. I visited there in August 2016, it has an outdoor sculpture exhibit which is incredible, even more so because a number of the pieces just appeared one night. No one knows who made them.

Thanks, but I didn’t take it, I was in the car

I co-drove this. It was glorious

I don’t know the specific aero properties of that particular whale tail, but I can tell you in rally we notice a significant difference between with and without a spoiler on many cars, even something as basic and simple as a Ford Fiesta. Both in corners and in jumps (cars with rear hatches nosedive like crazy over

Ken’s seat is pretty much dead center in the car for better weight distribution. Because of this the steering wheel needs to be extra long to meet him. The transmissions are six speed sequential rally boxes, shift lever is floor mounted. Most of what he does doesn’t need more than third gear, though he went through

It didn’t improve my reaction, but it did alter the direction of the momentum, allowing me to carry it around the corner. Basically I gave myself a longer runway for the momentum. We use throttle application like this in rally all the time.

That I can’t argue with

Counterargument: I was driving during an ice storm one night and had to descend a fairly steep hill. I start down slowly, but halfway down the hill it became sheet ice and even my snow tires couldn’t find grip. The car began sliding and picking up speed. The hill ends into a T junction with a ravine in the far side.

Are you kidding? This is brilliant! Do you have any idea what it costs to install a hydraulic handbrake to do the same thing? And this cones with the added programming to disengage the rear so you don’t need to clutch. And it’s removable. This is some next level shit.

She didn’t get the 911 last year
