I almost forgot, they also need to use things like the production engine block. There’s a more detailed video that goes into that aspect, I’ll find it when I get off work

In addition to what Sissyfoot said, they also must use the production engine block (though some modification is allowed of course)

It does indeed. Here’s a good shot to show you how much is changed and how much is kept. Check out the nearest chassis. The lighter grey bits are original from the factory and can’t be altered. The darker rear quarter is the fender modifications/flares allowed within the rules. All the other exotic bits you see on the

Actually the WRC regulations require all rally cars start with the factory shell, which, aside from safety and a few points like the rear fender flares, can’t be modified.

It’s not about the look, those bigger flares provide better aero (and a wider track which improves stability)

The location was a part of it to be sure, but I think Matt actually added a lot as well

I’m with you. Rory was a revelation, Harris is always brilliant, and when Matt was away from the studio and away from Evans he was pretty solid in his own right. Once these three get used to each other I think the show has very strong potential

It’s more than just maps though. For starters the average event is about 100 miles with over 2,000 unique corners. Also there’s tons of little details in the notes that you can’t pick up in by studying maps. Like the corner that can be taken extra fast because it’s banked, or extra slow because it has negative camber.

Thanks!

I try to avoid it

Old GTIs make for epic rally cars

I’ve yet to meet anyone who can memorize that much road

Most events (or at least the events I’ve run) do have insurance that covers third party damage. It’s a fair chunk of what the competitor entry fee goes to cover.

A lot of times the co-driver will go back and reiterate the next call either as a way of speeding the driver up or slowing them down. If we feel like the driver is too slow in a fast section we’ll remind them it’s a 200 straight or a fast corner. Conversely if we can feel they’re coming too hot into something nasty

Personally I’m more used to this

VW has said that the only way they’ll agree is if the financier agrees to run the entire motorsport operation, meaning the shop and all the VW Motorsports staff. It’s not a case of someone buying the cars and running them with their own men, this is a package deal, it’s all or nothing.

Where are you?

On the RS? 90% sure they’re the old OZ Racing rally wheels.

Meth?
