I’m glad that I dont live in the rust belt after watching SMA but also bummed that I dont because I am not near his shop.

Now playing

Watch Wes Work. From small gas brushcutters to skidsteers to cars and lots of stuff in-between.

And I’m crashinnnnnnn

None of my boxcars were open but I had this one and came close a few times but never could thread the needle...

THANK you! This was definitely it, the hole in the front of the hood is for the steering wheel rod. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204179621867

Yes, I know how to spell - thanks. The author did not as the original title was

Yup, the rivers were stickers too.  I screwed up one beyond repair and contacted Galoob who promptly sent me the whole set in a baggie which included a few other parts.  I was one impressed kid.

I too am that many years old today.  It makes me smile to know others shared the same joy of repeatedly bouncing Firebirds off the sides of boxcars.

haha I’m stealing that line.  Take your star.

Oh GOD, putting all the stickers on this thing! There were 4 FULL sheets.

I remember that!  I also remember a plastic Corvette likely made by the same company that had a long rod with a steering wheel at the end that you could sort of “steer”.  Havent been able to find a pic of one of these.

Yep - My grandparents bought me this Road and Rail set one year

Yep, had that exact same set that met a similar demise. One of my aunts worked for Mattel in the mid 70s and I got a few prototypes that I loved into oblivion. Worth a ton now but wouldn’t dream of trading the fun had for some money.

Carpet? Damn rich kids!

Yep, utter garbage to own and torture to have to work on. I still have PTSD from doing head gaskets and power steering lines on these.

The only way I’m on board is if they had gone full boat and replaced the drivetrain with a flathead and a 3-speed manual cause there aint no way with what I still maintain is one of the WORST engine/transmission combinations ever installed in a motor vehicle.

YOU GOTTA KEEP EM BARACATED!

Not being into NASCAR - is something wrong with the LF wheel on that truck or do they run that much positive camber?

Copy and paste much?
