That’s a fair point that could definitely be argued. I did not consider the time gap.  Probably would need to lean on the hope that whatever hardware is holding the straight pipe on looks to have not been disturbed in a while.

I get that victim blaming is wrong, but also not 100% wrong in all cases.

I’d guess the real story is something like it got used as a lot pig for these years, run on dealer plates and was never titled - the dealership changed hands or GMs and someone finally noticed they still had it on the books and sold it to some poor schlub at probably more than MSRP.

Depends on the scanner.  Generally the cheaper ones cannot display the mileage.  The $20 one I loan out to friends cant while the $500 one only I use can do a lot more, including displaying the mileage stored.
