Depends on the scanner.  Generally the cheaper ones cannot display the mileage.  The $20 one I loan out to friends cant while the $500 one only I use can do a lot more, including displaying the mileage stored.

I totally get that. This one takes me back to my first job - working at a hotel setting up banquet rooms. First day we were setting up for a wedding and the DJ played this three times in a row. Can see it like it was yesterday but its been over 35 years.
