BMW finally stopped sending us notices after the second time I called the 800 number on the notice to tell them our old E46 had been turned into the state, crushed, ceasing to be any resemblance of an E46. They really are trying to make sure these get handled.

I am in the industry and for quite a while Tesla was VERY restrictive on who they would sell structural parts to. If you were not in their approved collision repair program, you couldn’t buy these kind of parts. That has loosened up a bit, but not a lot from what I am hearing from the field.

The sound it makes when he starts back up (about 5 seconds in) makes me giggle like an idiot.

This should be the mandated generated sound for EVs and Hybrids.

Yep, knew one was available for these - I’d certainly want it fixed though and knowing the issues these have if it wasnt fixed before purchase I’d be looking for a several thousand dollar discount. Could be something stupid like a pressure switch but not likely.

okay, I can see that.

Neat!

That is a viable option *if* removing the compressor will allow the routing of a shorter belt that the tensioner can still keep tensioned. A/C “bypass” idler pullies exist for many common applications that bolt in place of a removed compressor.

That U-Jack is a great idea, but not at the price point when I have a perfectly functioning jack of that size already. If they would offer saddles that could be retrofitted to existing jacks then I’d be all over that. I’d bet it’ll never happen though because some spanner would screw the install up, crush themselves

There have been reports of some dealers charging over $1000 for this “fix”. I’d be really tempted to return the car to the dealer - Discount Tire style.

My son’s shop added a Hunter Quick Check system about a year ago. Every vehicle entering the department gets driven through with pictures taken. It’s proven to be a very good investment already, having virtually eliminated these kind of claims.

Take a left at the fork in the road.

Totally needs the Electric Mayhem paint package.

Disco pants and haircuts! This lobby has got EVERYTHING! New Changlis are in early this year!

No, not at all - everything here is fine!  No, not really.  Ford engineers were calling this thing out during testing.

I was the one who nominated the Focus and yeah I’ve driven them. The problem isnt HOW they drive. When the transmission works it’s a perfectly decent car. My son worked for Ford for several years and dealt with these on a warranty basis and the fix was really just a bandaid to get the things out of warranty.

I know it’s only been available as a cutaway for the last 8 years but come on, the design is 31 years old now.
