@wallaka: It's not only about how it fares in an accident. Passive safety, in terms of comfort, noise, fit and visor quality are much, much better on dearer helmets.

In a country that frequently decries government interference, this is a clear cut case of where a single government mandated standard independently tested and regularly updated would save a lot of confusion and ultimately, save lives.

Last time I checked, this was a car blog.

@Shep_Shepherd: Ironic really, as the boys can't afford them (insurance/petrol), and the nice ones are seriously over-valued (liked all hot Fords from the sixties to the early eighties) by forum experts.

@Orgasmatron: Alan Jones complained to Patrick Head that the ride on the Williams ground effect car (possibly the FW07, I can't be arsed to look it up) was bone crushing. Head told Jones to "sit on something fat, like his wallet". To which Jones replied "I would, but on what you pay me I have nothing to put in it".

@pissshivers: Drag increase to the square of speed. In other words, you need four times the power to go twice as fast, all other factors being constant.

@Motor_Yakuza: If either of those two were available in the UK from official dealers at something approaching their US price converted I would camping outside the dealer to be first in line.

Came close to buying one of these in Viper Green, but I couldn't get nearly new with the engine/gearbox combination (1.4TSI with the DSG) with the colour and spec, and I was in no mood to be paying VW's prices with the options I wanted.

Now playing

@GuardDuck: There is a good case to be made for Nigel Mansell being Villeneuve's spiritual heir in terms of sheer ballsy driving.

@leno40: My PS3 turns itself on. I'm sure it's becoming self aware.

@macshome: Prost and Senna had something of a reconciliation once Prost retired, although Senna was the first to admit once his nemesis had gone, racing wasn't the same.

@GeeHalen: In the immortal words of Roger Clark - "You need an arse like a parrot to drive it".

@Crossdrilled: "Beware, the British are not so stupid as they look"

@Dot Communist: Sorry, the power station on the cover of Animals is Battersea Power Station, which is the iconic one with the four chimneys and which still stands, derelict. Tate Modern is housed in the old Bankside Power Station.

@Orionsaint: Lady Gaga has more wit, talent, intelligence and credibility in one of her nipples than Madonna has in her entire body.
