10 people are going to get that joke, but I appreciate it.
I was with you up until the part about Florida.
“Auto makers want predictability!”
No one said the moose on the Volvo 850 instrument cluster circuit board?
Check the AC Idler pulley before you go replacing the entire compressor. I thought mine was going too, the noise was awful. The pulley was absolutely shot. New pulley = no noise. At least start with the cheaper possible problem.
I replaced more than one set of Spec.B bilsteins, exhaust, and other things started to wear and nickel-and-dime... I loved the car, but the sedan’s cargo capability was much less than your wagon’s abilities, and I decided to recoup as much resale equity when I could, and went to a CUV... I know why the whole industry…
Automotive heat exchanger engineer rant:
A rear wiper blade would still be useful to clear off accumulated dirt and grime. There are some things air just can’t blow away. All cars, or as many as possible, should have rear wiper blades!
Also, in a free society, are we not capable of making the decisions on efficiency over luxury on our own?
Predictions:

Wouldn’t it be crazy if it was found in the following years that multiple auto makers had built cars specifically to beat tests, and that the actual emissions from diesel engines were vastly higher than otherwise reported? Maybe toss in the exposure of the fact that standard emissions tests are inadequate and more…
BIG TRUCK MAKE NOISE AND HAS BIGGLIEST WORDS USA USA USA
Or make it inversely proportional to price, for example:
More greenhouse is better. I don’t want to drive around looking out of gun slits.
How about we just abolish all tariffs worldwide, as well as all import rules worldwide, and let anyone drive whatever they want?
thanks for the clarification. So my strategy of Bolt theft by shifting to D and jamming on the gas pedal will still be successful.
Tesla does this - iirc, during some serious weather ( a hurricane?) last year, they remotely extended the evacuation range of their lower level model Ss, leading to a lot of “WTF? - my car had all this range I couldn’t use??!!” outrage.
