I literally drove from MI to NC last week and it was colder in NC every single day... I know not the norm, but my first time in NC I was expecting the opposite!

I’ve got a buddy with an OG insight he’s converted, can average under 150 Wh/mi at highway speeds, which is more than 20% more efficient than the Model 3, which is already the most efficient car ever sold in the US... and it can shred tires in first and second gears!

Exactly. If I’m getting a tool I won’t use often or is specialized, HF is almost always an equivalent or better choice than the orange or blue stores. HF will be cheaper with nearly identical or sometimes even better quality. Look it over and maybe even take it apart when you first get it to make sure all the bits are

It does look terrible, but the capabilities for the price (at least for the base model) are pretty impressive... if they can meet them. Assuming it comes with an interior similar to other Teslas, which are quite lacking, but tend to have reasonably good tech, a comparable 2020 XL RWD F150 is slightly more capable at

Many transit buses also have turn signals on the floor to free up hands for door lever operation. Normally that would only be gas, brake, left and right turn signal buttons (pictured) on the floor. Door lever is silver handle in top left, then mirror control, brake override, park brake on the left console.

Tom wins this one. I’ve got a coworker who is 6'8" and he often laments about missing his Mini and that it was the most comfortable car to drive he’s ever owned. He’d put the seat all the way down but didn’t even need to put it all the way back to be comfortable. Back seats are useless that way, but hey, that seems to

For some reason I’m particularly drawn to #electric van life... once you’ve got a big enough pack that you could do 3-4 hours of highway driving so you only have one stop during a day’s drive it would be amazing. Most RV parks have plugs set right up for you!

Where do you get the hubcaps? I run steels on both my Subaru and the GF’s Focus in the winter but have been unable to find any remotely nice hubcaps...

This was such an interesting vehicle as Coda made almost none of the parts themselves- they were mostly just an integration company and had to make the off the shelf pieces play nicely. Haven’t had a chance to drive one of them myself but my University had several that were still kicking around as of a couple years

I’d very much encourage you to get some seat time in a Model 3 or Mach e when available if you have not before. There are definitely disadvantages, but these cars are a blast to drive and carve corners with. Neither are light vehicles, but that’s just a matter of time and capacity improvements over the next decade or

I work developing EVs professionally, and we’re just not there yet in battery energy density. A decade from now, we’ll be able to have a ~3k lb miata with 200 miles+ of range and a reasonable price and it will be awesome, but today for that weight you’d end up with 125 or so and that’s just not good enough for the US.

Are you gonna take your SUV to the track?

Engineer with work vehicle here: “all seasons means all seasons”, thus they decide not to allow any of us to get snow tires... summer tires they’ll usually let you swap out for all seasons. More than several inches of snow I’m back into my Subaru on Blizzaks just for my own sanity... though I am quite spoiled by that

The prototypes for this thing look like they only have two functional doors... maybe there’s more hiding behind camo?

Right my issue is also my SO is currently working at MSU, so we’re going in completely opposite directions, with my drive about 20% longer than hers, but also work cars makes that more manageable for sure. I’m nowhere near the worst commute I know about in my office!

To work ~58 minutes - 1:10

I do 52 miles each way in the Detroit metro, if you can consider where I live to still be part of the metro! Luckily for me (not much luck, I totally knew it when I picked the position), I currently put about 80% of those commute’s miles onto work vehicles in various stages of prototype and production and often get

My sister still lives in the Bay Area, and has an 18 mile commute that takes longer than my 52 mile commute (each way) here in Michigan... that’s one of the things I do not miss at all!

40' Full size double decker bus!

Hot take: those wheels in the cover photo are horrible.
