Chairman Meow, an adorable cat?
Chairman Meow, an adorable cat?
Or bring in Archie's chair and Clint Eastwood!
Much as I would have watched 30 Rock forever, I agree it ended perfectly, and restarting now would be diminishing returns.
I would legitimately watch the original vision for Dot Com's "Let' Stay Together," a drama about a black family in 1970s Detroit. (If it was on AMC, not NBC).
Completely agreed. It even surpasses AD for me. AVC's backlash was patently bizarre.
AVClub, for whatever reason, turned on 30 Rock pretty quickly after its 1st season. Todd Van Der Werff compared it to Will & Grace, and Nathan Rabin, who wrote the episodic reviews, wrote each week of how sharply it had declined, to the point where the commentariat practically begged him to let someone else review…
Ex. A: 30 Rock
I have such a hard time with Clint Eastwood. Based on his films (that is, those he directs), he is a thoughtful, insightful man.
Killer Mike, 42, and seeming like he is having the time of his life doing it.
Much as Christie goes to town on nachos.
Dumb.
This is as apt a place to leave this as any—I have been rewatching 30 Rock, and came to a season 6 episode last night where Jack said, "Nixon's been dead almost 20 years, NOT in cryogenic hibernation resting up for 2016." Yup.
Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I read the New York Times's scathing review of Guy Fieri's Times Square restaurant. Seriously, look it up. Instant happy.
There was a discussion earlier this week in one of the threads (I believe the E3 trailers) about when games started becoming "cinematic." Most were picking games just a few years ahead of FFVI (notably, FFVII, MGS, etc.), and I was tempted to chime in to say that FFVI is an earlier example of a cinematic presentation.
dumb
Get Happy! is a great album that would be legendary if it didn't follow Armed Forces. Such momentum and energy.
It's Elvis's word too. In the liner notes on the Rhino-release CD version I have (I think of Get Happy!, but it could have been Armed Forces), he talks about him and Steve Nieve being hugely influenced by ABBA, especially in the keyboard, for Armed Forces.
I think it is exceedingly common for 40-something folks to divorce and start their lives over entirely, so although you got there a different way, I think there are probably a LOT of people around in the same boat. And society is different than it used to be. Fewer people have kids and own homes.
I'm rewatching The Good Place now, and it is clear that the writers knew exactly how the season ended from scene 1. It is remarkably well-constructed.
Unfortunately, I DIDN'T get to see them. More accurately, I learned about the concert a day or two before, and ended up not going because it was a 6 hour drive on a weekday and I wasn't in a great position to ask for a day off from work. It is a major regret.
