I had a (manual) S10 with the 4.3 and it was the least refined, noisiest, rattliest, shakiest, boat anchor, making barely enough horsepower to keep that tiny truck at 65 mph.

Large car manufacturers also like that having dealerships create a steady stream of orders for their products.  And factories like knowing they can keep cranking out products because dealerships will be buying the product regardless of small market fluctuations.

Totally possible to do yourself, but definitely time consuming and requires dropping the trans. There are guides and videos online, but it’s not an easy task.
