Don't get me wrong- I don't go to Best Buy either and get ripped off there. The only times I ever go to an actual brick-and-mortar store is if they have an advertised price that is somehow below what I find online, and even then I call ahead to make sure they actually have it.

I have to admit, MicroCenter has some serious deals (went there the other day for a mouse, and I'm going back today to pick up something else), but when I walked into the store, HOLY COW it was like a time warp into my childhood (and not in a good way).

Only question- is it compatible with Windows 8? I've read up and down in the few articles that talk about it that there are problems with the drivers for the XTD (they're touted as being W8 compatible, but the drivers are apparently unsigned which W8 has a problem with).

How did you get it to work with W8? That's the main issue I'm running into, and if I get another one as an exchange, I don't want to risk bricking that one too through the firmware update.

Yeah I really, REALLY love Roccat. Even with the mouse bricking on me, I have been trying throughout the day to find a workaround (install it with compatibility settings again, revert to different firmware versions, etc). I briefly got the mouse to turn its lights on (and therefore, receive power), but it seems the

Halleluiah. This article, along with the MoneySaver voting, couldn't come soon enough. Perhaps someone is willing to hook a brother up with some advice?

Yeah that killed it for me too after about 10 minutes of reading about it and using it. Even if the app gave me the option of using the built-in SMS app or using a different SMS app on my phone, I'd definitely bite. But until then, I'm right there with ya.

Gorgeous in a way that VERY few Android apps truly are. But I have to say, the fact that I can't use my own sound or music files as the alarm sound means I'll be holding out on this one for a while.

Building offensive weapons ISN'T against Japan's surrender terms from WWII- it's something that they wrote into their national constitution when it was redone in the aftermath of the war (aka it was done by the United States, since they occupied Japan for a while after its conclusion). Japan's surrender "terms" were

Got me there- my comment was based off the video, which mentioned nothing about the note editor changes. I see highlighting in one image, but no specific reference, so we'll see.

Fair point, but as a Windows user, the overhaul doesn't do much for me. I primarily add notes through my mobile devices (where the interface isn't the same) and then go through the content in more detail once I get home.

What a letdown...the Evernote team focused on cleaning up the interface instead of actually adding useful content features like highlighting, columns, etc.

Thank you for your insight. I actually thought about that too- it's the same thing that happened with some other electronic devices before, where they just send me a new unit instead of going through the hassle of taking my current one apart.

I actually had scoured eBay and similar sites for a while now, but the product line was the kicker- the Y580 isn't a distinct model (even on my own laptop it says "Y500" since the 580 still uses the Y500 frame), so everyone I talked to said to search for Y500 keyboards since they're technically the same component.

The problem with using something like that is that it wouldn't last very long, and would let light pass through it since it's an ink instead of something thicker (like the paint they originally used).

I hate to go off an article whose only common link is the topic of "backlit keyboards", but I figure this would make more sense to post here...

Two words: diatomaceous earth.

With so many "video games in real life" videos that fall flat, it's refreshing to find one that delivers!

I thought it was weirdly ironic that I watched a video on the internet in the midst of this "gotta stay informed" mode that told me that I need to overcome that mentality.

When you invoked dice into your explanation, I utterly lost it. HAHAHAHAHA
