It might not be for you, but I used to use Winamp, Windows Media Player and others back in the day. I can't speak to how either of those work now, but for an organizational nut like me, MediaMonkey has everything I was looking for that the others could never pull off.

I use MM and PowerAmp as well, and the way I do it is just by making sure I have MM set to auto-organize my files (folder hierarchy, naming convention, etc). Then I just plug my phone into my laptop (mount it as a USB device), and I set it up as a portable device within MM.
