That’s precisely what I’m struggling with, as well. It was a decade ago. By the lens we’re viewing with now, the method of handling the situation wasn’t enough, but....it was a decade ago.

I’m conflicted right now between “oh my god something should have been done, I’m incredibly disappointed and this is not okay” and “oh my god, really, yet another log for the Let’s Burn Hillary pyre? Greaaaaat. This coming tsunami of unhinged virulent frothing is going to be just super fantastic fun.”
In reading the comments, I’m struck by how many assume the child is being rude or contrarian when they provide a non- or inadequate answer to this kind of question to a parent.
That general ooginess is something I experience with every flu shot, which is why I always plan my flu shot for an afternoon before a weekend so I have time to indulge in dealing with that reaction rather than have to work through it.
As an Old I am very, very glad I came of age before social media was a thing. Hard life lessons are tough enough to learn without the focused lens of the internet and constant social presence.

I’m a little amazed at all the comments excusing or trying to explain this away. He posted his manifesto on a work forum, and his workplace decided they didn’t want to deal with it and what it meant and showed him the door. It’s not about whether he has a right to say it, it’s about WHERE he chose to say it.
Oh, haha. Yes, that would be an interesting question to which I’d also like to know an answer!
How so? Royal warrants are basically a really good Yelp review given by the crown that other people notice and decide is worth something. If the crown decides to take back their review, that’s their decision. It’s not something the company can lay claim to in perpetuity; it’s not a knighthood or something.
Yay, new CJ Cherryh!
Like others, your post was the one that made me cry. It’s like you’re speaking out of my head.
I feel like there should be an “empty chair” image at the end of the article, just in case.
Dammit, Bono. Also, shut up.
I mean, it’s Netflix.
