Great piece. I wish there was more media heat on Crawford because he’s so exciting AND technically superior. It’s an interesting counterpoint to Mayweather in that May used his gifts exclusively in the interests of self protection, but Crawford uses it to aggressively press on the attack and defend from distance when

For what it’s worth: I think that this penalty is appropriateand both sides should be happy with it.

WHEN did they interview Casher and DNA test her clothes?

I could give a fuck who you root for in college sports.

Lol...So TallahasseePolice protocolfor rape reports is:

Which “independent report” are you referring to? The state’s attorney’s repor? The one that basicallyreads “We can’t charge anyone because Tallahassee didn’t actually do any investigating or evidence-gathering?”

It’s almost as if....that because the players don’t get paid coaches, athletic departments and administrators have to spend outsized amounts of money on elaborate perks that are intended solely at impressing 18 year old recruits. And it’s almost as if those same perks have created a tai-wags-the-dog effect where

Say, I wonder if there’s correlation between not paying student athletes, enormous, bloated, out-of-control spending at our nation’s college athletic department budgets, our student debt crisis, and our campus rape problem?

Oh. Also: your answers are thoughtful and provocative. I was nearly certain that had been banned from the internet. :-)

It’s funny how you bring up those two selections. Because those are great examples of the fickleness of interpretation.

Well, I can only give you my own answer since anyone proclaiming to have “The Answer” is a lunatic or a Silicon Valley startup huckster. It’s kinda long, but you asked me a BIG question: :-)

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!!!!

“The religious language should cause it to tank, and more important, set legal precedent that you can’t use religious conjecture to get around Roe vs Wade....”

And the only—ONLY—reason they came back with “Not enough evidence” is because the detective in charge of the “investigation” (a guy who makes a healthy sum moonlighting as security for FSU football) didn’t do ANY actual investigating. Primarily because the FSU Athletic Department told him not to. Hence (in part) the

WAIT WAIT WAIT.

You know what would dramatically reduce admin costs in this area?

You’re welcome. Everyone bitches about attorneys...until they need one.

The division of the settlement is a creature of FL state law. My understanding is that there’s a 300k max on what you can collect in compensatory damages as a Plaintiff in a suit against a public entity. The $700k to the attorneys is to cover her fees, which I’m sure were significant and probably had to be verified by

FSU, of course, denies any responsibility for the ENORMOUS role they played in obstructing the investigation into this case. However, the depositions taken in this case were already so, so, so, incredibly damaging that it’s obvious why they would wantout of this case ASAP.

Was there? I’m pleading ignorance.
