Most fast food jobs in San Francisco pay $20/hr (or very close) currently, with a $15 minimum wage city-wide. 

These days the only way to secure a significant raise is to get a new job. I think companies almost expect it at this point so they don’t dedicate dollars to raises for existing employees. Which, of course, perpetuates the cycle even more!

I can understand her truly believing he’s a good person deep down. It’s not exactly hard to pretend to be a kind person to an exceedingly attractive woman you’re trying to woo. Men do it all the time. They know who they need to be nice to, and who they can treat as if they’re subhuman.
