It was a pterodactyl.
It was a pterodactyl.
I love Maria Bamford, way back to her early standup, and will defend her to the death. Loved the first season, but I stalled out a few eps in the second, so maybe this is the best? Also, as a person with mental health issues in a demanding field, I understand how she approaches it, and I really just want her to do…
I’m going to miss this, if only because I don’t think we’ll see much like it again for a while. A surrealist live action comedy with a middle-aged female lead? Does anything else like that even exist anymore?
The first season was constantly surprising, funny, inventive, in one word great. The second season seemed to run on fumes. The stakes were low, there was an uninvolving arc, but there were still some good jokes scattered here and there.
He truly does.
Still, this was a good move. It doesn’t excuse the inherent sexism involved in all this, but a good deed is a good deed
I think it’s still too divisive an issue among the fan community to really say there’s a consensus. Some people say all the head shots/concussions left him with the brain of an 80 year old Alzheimer’s patient. Some people say the death of his best friend sent him into an emotional tailspin that he never recovered…
Ah yes, because again anyone who disagrees with you must be some raging conservative, white, racist mythologist right? No “proper” liberal who respects women would eeeeever disagree with your ideas. Sorry buddy, but there are many men and women from the left who aren’t comfortable with your witch hunts. Better stay…
Titus on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a pretty funny undermining of that dream.
An artist should be proud that his art inspired other artists, even if they had a different take on the meaning, and stoked that his music is still relevant and reaching a younger audience.
Also, are we really saying that Kathryn Bigelow deserves an oscar nom for Detroit, a movie no one saw and those who did didn’t particularly like? Or Patty Jenkins for Wonder Women, a totally acceptable and workmanlike superhero films that’s pretty unremarkable aside from the gender aspect?
I can think of like 5 white dudes who did a better job directing their respective movies than Gerwig did with hers. That being said, Lady Bird is a charming movie and she did a decent job (especially with the actors) and it’s cool to see her get a nom, I suppose. The oscars are dumb and god knows Gerwig deserves it…
I will never forgive Dan Harmon for creating the Rick and Morty fandom. As for the sexual harassment thing, I don’t feel it’s really my place to forgive...
3 things are necessary in an actual apology
Just spitballing, but I think people view Tarantino and Affleck as actually having had the power to do something about Weinstein whereas Sorvino would’ve had no power to do anything about Allen. Not saying it’s necessarily right or wrong, I just think that’s how some people look at the situation.
These awards are voted on. If nobody has seen the movie, then they won’t vote for it. That applies equally to movies directed by either gender.
Well, most award shows are VERY careful to nominate a token black person in at least one major category, if not several. Lest they be subject to massive backlash and outrage.
I say this one a lot.
Should women be nominated just because they are women? If the best directors were all women would you be making a fuss that there are no men?
Why do people enjoy the Coming-of-Age genre so bloody much?
Except that to recognitions, “being a dick” means taking a position that’s even one percent more nuanced that the most hardline stance possible, where she(?) immediately starts pulling the “I guess you’re just worked up about someone criticizing an abuser” card and shtick like that.
