Even worse... it now knows you exist......lock the doors!
In the last few weeks I’ve been conditioned to expect that weird cancellations in media stuff is usually preceded or followed by revelations that make it impossible to enjoy the work of the people involved ever again.
A) I’m beginning to think this God dude doesn’t always think through his plans.
The first few episodes were interesting, about the literal last man on Earth roaming the U.S. collecting things (the DeLorean, priceless works of art) and trying to live his life, but really quickly, after Carol was introduced and the relationships congealed, it became about an annoying guy bickering with people. Oh…
I lump people together based on their phylum. I’m a phylumist!
That “are you still watching?” message that pops up when you’ve been streaming for hours pops up as soon as you hit play on The Ranch.
It’s always been that way I suppose - tribalism is nothing new - but in the information age it becomes something so disgustingly hypocritical.
Any partisanship seems to require being an apologist for your own team doing the same things you fault the opposition for.
When asked to comment, Netflix responded “holy shit The Ranch is still on? Is anybody watching it?”
Objectivity no longer exists in public discourse. You’re either for one team or the other, white straight Republican men or black gay liberal women. Nuance and complexity is not an option. Intersectionality is simply a word no-one understands, far less attempt to apply to reality.
Here’s the thing: They don’t care. In fact, when I read your post, I immediately imagined forty people replying to you, all with variations of
Jesus Christ.
An article endorsing people getting banned from social media for expressing opinions you disagree with, than another lamenting the same fate befalling those you find more cordial posted a few hours later.
Even Brietbart isn’t so painfully lacking in self awareness, oblivious to irony.
It had Chris Kattan and the hot teacher from Billy Madison in it, how could it be a bad movie!!!!
Discount Milla Jovavich = Autistic Early Joni Mitchell
And I wasn’t comfortable throwing him under the bus either until I knew the facts. Remember facts? Seems like a pretty outdated notion these days but I still enjoy them.
They also Read Not Good.
Yeah, it’s almost as if the people wearing these shirts haven’t fully thought through the issue.
Anyone who wants to tell them exactly what they want to hear doesn’t qualify as a journalist
It should be morbidly funny except we now live in a country where people take these things seriously and go shoot up a pizza place because they have zero critical thinking brain cells.
Book. Brain. Humanity. Some assembly required.
Because that is what we do now. We can’t let people do anything good in this world without sifting through their past to find a reason to vilify them.
