What this says to me is “rape of someone over 12, well, those are urges everyone has and needs to do a better job controlling, so it’s a crime. Under 12, though, that means you’re mentally ill and need treatment.”

I feel like her idea of a dad who “just screwed up” is different than mine. Just screwed up to me is drinking at a bar and missing your school play or seventh birthday...fucked up and may result in some therapy, but moveable past.
