US: same way as you.
No surprise it’s coming from TikTok, seeing how it makes stupid people feel smart.
Ugh, stupid clickbait. That's *exactly* what I thought it meant.
Um, DUH.
Damn clickbate!!🤬
LoL anyone who wasn’t aware of this shouldn’t be allowed to own any device that connects to the internet.
Yes, thereby proving something that was (A) widely known, and (B) not remotely interesting.
Exactly. This could literally be the dumbest article I’ve ever read on a Gawker/GMG/etc. site. Yes, it’s a take-off of Hi-Fi, but Hi-Fi was short for High Fidelity. To say that WiFi doesn’t mean wireless fidelity...like, Matt, did you get paid for this article?
It also doesn’t mean internet.
Next you’re going to tell us Bluetooth isn’t a dental condition
“‘Wi-Fi’ Doesn’t Mean What You Think It Means”
Right? So Wi-Fi is a pun on High Fidelity, where the Wi was obviously chosen for be shorthand for Wireless, since wireless was already in the lingo of IEEE 802.11 WLAN (wireless local area network). So in debunking that Wi-Fi does not mean Wireless Fidelity, I think they actually just proved that it actually does.
The term Wi-Fi isn’t an abbreviated version of wireless fidelity, as many people believe. Wi-Fi is a pun on Hi-Fi, which was coined in the 1950s by audio equipment manufacturers as a shortened version of “high fidelity.”
Have you ever thought about where the term Wi-Fi comes from?
So where is the “failed” part of this company’s fortunes. The word shows up only in the headline. This is why we can’t have nice things.
The day I read numerous articles indicating that the plastic recycling process, which uses tons of water, releases obscene amounts of microplastics in wastewater, I stopped recycling all plastics.
We have recycle and general trash bins for our weekly garbage pickup. However, since China and others now refuse recycling from The West, much of our trash for recycling is redirected to landfill as is all other non-recyclable garbage. It’s just that Waste Management doesn’t tell people all the work of recycling and…
TLDR: U.S. PIRG wasted its time and non-profit funding.
Plastic recycling has always been a lie. Did you kids not pay attention in chemistry classes?
This is my shocked face
