I’m surprised that the novelty of video hasn’t worn off for most companies/individuals.  For the type of work that I do, it adds absolutely nothing of value to see my coworkers picking their noses during a meeting -- I suspect many other office workers are in a similar situation.  An audioconference with screensharing

The late, great George Carlin used to say that people add extra words when they want to sound more important. I suspect that he would agree that the phrase “works as it should” contains 4x as many words as is necessary. If something truly works, then just say that.

I’m with you. I surprised myself with how much I loved Torch’s video series on the Changli, but I’ve never even clicked “play” on any other videos here.

I don’t know who keeps clinging to the hope that video content will take off. I thought even those running the site gave up on video when they let the video producer go after the last desperate attempt to get clicks several months ago... yet video keeps popping up here every now and then.

What you identify as a design flaw is a feature to artificially inflate page view statistics.

My pre-Covid commute (and likely post-vaccination commute when we make it back to the office) is about 25 miles round trip, so even the worst EVs of 10 years ago could meet 90% of my needs. But I am one man, and I don’t want to own more than one car at a time, so I need a car that meets 100% of my needs.
